To avoid surprises and find our material in perfect condition, we are going to indicate below a series of tips that will lengthen the life and prevent the deterioration of our material.

Skis and Snowboards

Snowboards and skis perform the same function as our car tires: if they are in poor condition we can suffer a loss of control of our vehicle. This is also the case with our skis and boards, which are what give us that link and security on each descent. Therefore, some important details must be taken into account:

1.Dry and clean as a whistle!

Yes, this point is the first and most important of all: if we want to prevent our edges from rusting and becoming impossible to sharpen next season, we must remove any trace of moisture. Experts recommend loosening the spring tension on the bindings; not only to clean the humidity, but to make sure that it maintains its resistance when necessary.

2. We wax and polish!

To avoid the dryness of the sole, I recommend, even if it is excessive, that you apply a considerable amount of wax before storing them. If you don’t know how to do it, I recommend that you try it in a workshop to get them ready for next season.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block; text-align:center;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-2955830940521450"
data-ad-slot="6443162263"
data-ad-layout="in-article"
data-ad-format="fluid" data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>

3. Sharp edges and rust away!

Soles and edges are the most vulnerable parts of our boards and skis. After an intense season, these will have suffered countless drops and great wear due to the abrasive effect of snow, ice, or some other stone… A good sharpening is very important so that rust does not attack our edges before storing them. As with the soles, I recommend you go to the workshop and let the Skiman do it!

4. Time to rest!

It is very important that in the place we choose to store our material there are no sudden changes in temperature, that it is not in contact with the sun and that it is a dry place, since, as I mentioned at the beginning of this article, humidity is our main enemy. It is also interesting to avoid, either with paper or tape, that our edges are in contact with each other; and it is beneficial that our boards or skis are stored in a specific bag or cover for this purpose. The best way to store our skis is vertically. If we do it horizontally we will try that there is no weight that can deform our camber.

5. Care for our boots.

Boots are another element of our equipment with which we have to take special care and care. First of all, I insist again on drying and cleaning: for this I advise you to remove the boots or use specific boot dryers (from heat resistors to air dryers, and others). The most important thing when storing them is that they are well closed and dry. To do this, I recommend inserting the boots, stuffing them (especially at the tips of the fingers) with newspaper or similar to preserve their shape, and leaving the bindings as loose as possible to prevent the boot from suffering any kind of deformation. And as I mentioned with the skis: to store them we will choose a place that is dry and without large fluctuations in temperature.

Conclusion:

With these little tips and habits we can significantly extend the life of our material and ensure that it is in perfect condition for the next season.

It has happened to all of us that, after arriving home tired after our last day of the season on the track, we have stored our equipment in the closet to be left there forgotten until the following season.
